No one cared about the so-called viscount anymore.
“My lord, your wounds…?”
After Hossorn left, the guard behind him hesitated to speak, noticing the scratches on his face.
It was then that the viscount felt the sharp sting on his face; it hurt like hell. He had delicate skin and had never been injured before, and he couldn’t bear this little pain.
He immediately cried out, “Why aren’t you rushing back to the manor? Hurry and call a healing mage! I’m in pain, ahhhh!”
“Yes, yes, yes, get moving, coachman!” the guard quickly urged.
After several days of doing nothing at the viscount’s manor, Hossorn spent his time every day inquiring about Worris.
But it turned out that Worris’s caravan was indeed becoming more and more popular.
Ever since he took off the mask that day, many nobles had personally visited to inquire about his products, making the shop bustling with activity.
The more Hossorn heard, the angrier he became. Before he could do anything, he heard a commotion outside the manor.
He quickly went outside to check the situation, and he was stunned.
There were quite a number of royal guards outside, and in front stood a high-ranking warrior, a trusted aide of the king.
Hossorn put on a pretentious warm smile and hurriedly asked, “My lord, does His Majesty have any instructions for me?”
The warrior remained completely unfazed, his expression serious: “Viscount Hossorn, the king has instructed me to inform you that harming others in the city center, even for a noble, cannot be easily forgiven. You should reflect on yourself more, and as punishment, you are to transcribe the ‘Scriptures of the God of Light’ a thousand times.”
Hossorn could no longer maintain his smile; his expression immediately collapsed, looking comically distressed.
Worris must have reported him to the king! That bastard!
After sending away the royal guards, he slumped into a chair, his heart in disarray.
He could not lose the king’s trust; his caravan had just started to develop, and he absolutely could not let that Worris ruin everything!
Suddenly, he had an idea and jumped up.
Worris had gone to Vistoria City to procure goods, so why not go buy some himself?
That guy was stingy with his sales and even imposed purchase limits; if Hossorn directly brought back a heap of goods, he could easily crush Worris!
If possible, he could just kill the owner, loot the shop clean, and then no one could compete with him anymore.
Under the dim light, the corner of Hossorn’s mouth twisted into a wider, eerily sinister smile.
Chapter 14
The Abyss, Floating Life Groceries.
“Welcome! What would you like to buy?”
Lusiian heard the elevator bell ring and habitually looked up to ask.
To his surprise, it was Worris standing nervously at the door.
“Store manager, I’m here to tell you something; your products are very popular, selling like hotcakes. I brought plenty of money and want to buy some more.”
“That’s great! Feel free to choose. We just restocked, so we should have enough for a while.”
Lusiian’s eyes lit up; this would bring in a big haul of money.
After Worris purchased a large number of goods again, he decisively placed a large bag of gold coins on the table.
Lusiian put the coins into the cash register; just this transaction alone brought in tens of thousands of energy coins.
When he turned around, he noticed that Worris hadn’t left; he was still standing at the door, visibly conflicted.
“Is there anything else?”
Worris closed his eyes, feeling quite embarrassed as he spoke: “Um… there’s one more thing.”
He explained the conflict with Hossorn clearly and, hesitantly, expressed his hope that Lusiian would avoid collaborating with Hossorn.
He quickly added, “I know this request is quite unreasonable; if you’re unwilling, please feel free to disregard what I just said!”
Lusiian casually replied, “What’s the problem? Since I chose to work with you, of course, I wouldn’t seek others.”
Worris froze, becoming excited: “Thank you, store manager! Don’t worry, I’ll definitely promote you more; from now on, I’m your loyal disciple, and you can count on me in Calderon!”
Lusiian waved his hand, saying, “Not a problem. I should actually be thanking you.”
The happy businessman totally disregarded his words.
Thank him?
What a joke!
The demons and creatures the demon lord possessed had such strange effects that they were never worried about selling out, so there was no need to acquiesce to Worris’s conditions.
He had come to the Abyss alone, knowing that the city of Calderon needed many hands to guard it; it was a busy time now.
Meanwhile, Worris had successfully achieved his goal, connecting with several nobles.
In the Calderon noble circles, who wouldn’t take pride in skipping the queue and obtaining goods early?
It was well-known that the Worris caravan was untouchable, and no one dared to engage in forced buying and selling under the king’s authority.
Just getting a piece from them was something to brag about at banquets, proving one’s family background and extensive connections.
Worris had successfully completed the first step of his goal by penetrating into the noble circles.
The Cult of Light had always preached the elimination of evil and the salvation of the people; now, the demon lord’s influence was gradually coming to light, and many who originally believed in the Cult of Light had turned to the Floating Life Sect, which the Cult of Light certainly would not take lying down.
However, the royal family and the Cult of Light had always had a strained relationship; as long as he could connect with the royal line, it would undoubtedly allow the Floating Life Sect to proceed more smoothly.
Since the demon lord had such trust in him, providing great help, Worris was determined to remain loyal and serve the demon lord, bringing Him more power of faith!
Initially, Worris joined the sect with a somewhat perfunctory attitude, forced to join just to obtain goods.
But now, he was genuinely moved by the products from the demon shop; joining was absolutely worth it.
